Program Rug Collections
Adaptations Collection
The Adaptations Collection continues our use of extremely high quality Afghani hard-twist, hand-spun wool, but the construction of this collection is one step finer than Mystique and Arcadia, with an even heavier hand. The rugs are also finished with a double side cord for added structural integrity. Hand-knotted in a different part of Jaipur, India, this collection also possesses a lighter, fresher palette of colors compared to Ganges, Mystique and Arcadia. These completely up-to-date colors add a new twist to the Tabriz, Mahal and Agra patterns used. Available in a full array of program sizes, Adaptations represents a new interpretation of classic Persian designs in an extremely durable, less formal construction.
Arcadia Collection
The Arcadia Collection is hand-knotted in Jaipur, India. The yarn used is highland Afghani wool that is spun by hand, then "hard-twisted" by hand to give the program a uniquely "hand-crafted" texture. The striated patina in the line is achieved in two ways. First, the hard-twist wool does not absorb all colors with the same saturation. This provides a kind of "sparkle" to the finish. Second, the wool is dyed in small hand batches. The large number of dye lots used in every color increases the striated effect. After hand shearing, the rugs are given a low-luster finishing wash that removes excess clippings from the pile and helps to set the dye colors. The luster present in the collection is purely a function of the extremely high quality wool. The production techniques noted above, the simple transitional and contemporary patterns, and the subdued colors combine to give the Arcadia Collection a highly textural, organic appearance that offers incredible design flexibility.
Bal Harbor Collection
This program illustrates that opulent, glamorous looking rugs do not necessarily need to be expensive. Hand-tufted in Jaipur, India, this collection uses a proprietary blend of fine wools in the field and border and silky soft viscose in the design motifs. There are as many as 20 total colors used in each design, which is unheard of in tufted production. The end result is a glow and finish that belies the collection's affordable price. This is a tufted collection that belongs in fine stores and designer showrooms.
Continental Collection
This collection illustrates that wool quality can be the most important factor when considering the concept of value. Using a proprietary blend of hand spun wools, tightly spun and woven into a compact texture, this collection is certainly the most durable line on the market for the money. Add to this the use of 14 to 20 top colors and designs ranging from detailed fabric inspired motifs to larger scale Ziegler patterns and you have one collection with a supreme sense of value.
Expressions Collection
The Expressions Collection continues our expansion of the hard-twist wool texture. This program uses mill-spun, hard-twist wool and is hand-tufted in mainland China. Representing an outstanding value in the mid-priced tufted category, Expressions rugs have the hand-crafted patina that buyers expect of our company. The colors used are toned-down and subtle and many of the updated traditional designs in the collection are compatible with each other, making it easy for end users to find multiple pieces for the same home. Hard-twist wool provides many benefits, including excellent resistance to wear abrasion and pile crushing, as well as minimized footprints. A true program, Expressions is stocked in seven different sizes.
Expressions II
Expressions II continues our exploration of simple, transitional designs made with our signature hard-twist wool texture. This program uses mill-spun, hard-twist wool and is hand-tufted in mainland China. Representing an outstanding value in the mid-priced tufted category, Expressions II rugs have the hand-crafted patina that buyers expect of our company. The colors used are timely, toned-down and organic and many of the designs in the collection are compatible with each other, making it easy for end users to find multiple pieces for the same home. Hard-twist wool provides many benefits, including excellent resistance to wear abrasion and pile crushing, as well as minimized footprints. A true program, Expressions II is stocked in five different sizes.
Ganges Collection
The Ganges Collection is hand-knotted in Jaipur, India by the same weaving group that produces Arcadia, Golden Triangle and Mystique. The yarn used is highland Afghani wool that is spun by hand, then “hard twisted” by hand to give the program a uniquely “hand-crafted” texture. The striated patina in the line is achieved in two ways. First, the hard-twist wool does not absorb all dye colors with the same saturation. This provides a kind of “sparkle” to the finish. The production techniques noted above, the detailed Persian and Turkish patterns, and the subdued colors combine to give the Ganges Collection a highly textural, hand-crafted, organic appearance that offers incredible design flexibility. Central to the collection’s appeal is the fact that most of the designs are complementary to one another, allowing several different designs to live harmoniously in the same home. In fact, the Ganges Collection can also be "mixed and matched" with the simpler Mystique Collection, which uses the same family of dye colors and the same yarn.
Greene Street Limited Editions
Greene Street Limited Editions is an adventuresome collection that ushers in a new era for Benjamin Rugs and offers a new way for dealers to market fine hand-knotted rugs. Described as a “limited edition program” Greene Street rugs are each numbered as part of a limited production run of no more than 40 pieces in each design. Ordered rugs are shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity, noting each rug’s number within the edition. By marketing the rugs in this way, the inherent value of each piece is maintained within dealer inventories and in the mind of each end user. The 5x7 program size also allows for each design to be used as a wall hanging, expanding the possible uses for the collection. The designs are the original creations and property of Benjamin Rug Imports, but are marketed as the exclusive designs of each stocking dealer. In an era of constant downward price pressure and shrinking dealer margins, Greene Street Limited Editions reminds everyone that hand-knotted rugs remain true masterpieces.
Impressions and Impressions II
These collections are hand-tufted in Jaipur, India and represent an entirely new standard of tufted production. The yarn used is highland Afghani wool that is spun by hand, then "hard-twisted" by hand to give the programs a uniquely "hand-crafted" texture. The striated patina in the lines is achieved in two ways. First, the hard-twist wool does not absorb all dye colors with the same saturation. This provided a kind of "sparkle" to the finish. Second, the wool is dyed in small hand batches. The large number of dye lots used in every color increases the striated effect. After hand shearing, the rugs are given a low luster finishing wash that removes the excess clippings from the pile and helps to set the dye colors. The production techniques noted above, the combination of both contemporary and simple traditional patterns, and the sophisticated colors combine to give the Impressions Collections a highly textural, hand-crafted appearance that offers incredible design flexibility and belies their surprisingly affordable price. These are hand-tufted collections that better rug stores and design showrooms can sell with confidence. Impressions II uses the same production methods as Impressions, but utilizes a different finishing wash that adds more luster to the yarn.
Kalinjar Collection
The Kalinjar Collection represents an astonishing value. Hand-knotted in India, this line uses our signature hand-spun, hard-twist wool in a lower knot count, but with a thicker wool ply. This weave is perfect for the large scale, open Oushak design used. Simply stated, the Kalinjar Collection is one classic design available in 12 different color combinations and a myriad of program sizes. Each color way can be mixed and matched with the other combinations, allowing for the placement of multiple pieces in the same home. Should you require a special size; custom sizes can also be produced for a small up charge. Kalinjar rugs truly are “hand-knotted rugs at hand-tufted prices.”
Karishma Collection
A sister collection to our Kalinjar line, Karishma includes simple, casual designs in multiple color combinations. The look is textural and organic and belies the collection's extemely affordable price. Hand knotted in India, Karishma utilizes hand-spun, hard-twist wool with a dense, firm hand. The Meadow design also includes genuine silk highlights. A true program, Karishma is loomed and stocked in a full range of sizes.
Kingdom Collection
Truly fit for a palace or mansion, this collection utilizes a very fine weave and a blend of superior quality hand-spun wools. The unique Low Luster finish of the line allows the colors to look nearly identical from one end to the other.
Loft Collection
Benjamin Rug Imports has invented a brand new flat weave quality with the introduction of the casual, flexible Loft Collection. Made of pure wool on a hand loom in India, this collection uses small loops and is completely reversible. The single design, named “Random Stripes,” utilizes narrow, vertical stripes in tonal shades that randomly off-set, enhancing the quality’s hand-crafted appeal. Programmed in 5 sizes and 6 designer colors, the Loft Collection offers many applications and represents an outstanding value.
Moderno Collection
Made of hand-spun, highland Afghani wool, the Moderno Collection is as much about texture as color and pattern. Simple contemporary designs with unexpected colors are balanced with a hand-crafted, striated, nubby texture.
Monte Carlo Collection
The only word that suitably describes the Monte Carlo Collection is "opulent". There are as many as 20 top colors in this colorful line, which are dyed in small hand batches using two different kinds of hand-spun wool from Argentina. Some colors are in a highly twisted variety, while others are in wool with a lower twist level. The random placement of these wool textures results in a brand-new finish that has a sparkle and glow like no other collection on the market. The line also has an extremely dense and heavy hand, with more wool consumption per square meter than any other collection. The word "lush" comes to mind.
Mystique Collection
The Mystique Collection is hand-knotted in Jaipur, India. The production techniques noted above, the simple Persian and Indian Agra patterns, and the subdued colors combine to give the Mystique Collection a highly textural, hand-crafted, organic appearance that offers incredible design flexibility. Central to the collection’s appeal is the fact that most of the designs are complementary to one another, allowing several different designs to live harmoniously in the same home.
Persian Workshop Series
In the 17th and 18th centuries, the Persian weaving workshops with the most prolific and decorative production were in the cities of Tabriz and Isfahan. The designs in this collection are taken from the huge body of designs that originated in these workshops. Using hand-spun wool, vegetal dyes and a very fine weave, these carpets are made with the same workmanship as the originals. In some cases, colors have been re-interpreted to bring these antique designs into the modern age.
Showcase Collection
The Showcase Collection presents our signature hand-spun, hard-twist wool texture in the finest weave quality of all our collections. This weave allows for the use of more detailed, updated Persian patterns in the line, as well as a greater number of accent shades. With its fine weave, detailed designs, low pile height and subtle color palette, Showcase can be compared with other collections in the marketplace costing much, much more. Like our other programs, Showcase rugs are compatible with one another, as well as many designs in our other collections. The line is programmed in a full assortment of standard sizes and can also be made in custom sizes for a small up charge.
Stephanie Cohen Collection
New York interior designer Stephanie Cohen has developed an impressive roster of influential clients through the application of her signature New Urban Organic style. By combining contemporary features with natural materials, her environments are sophisticated yet simple, with a calming “Zen” sensibility. Designed in tandem with company rug designer Tom Franklin, the Stephanie Cohen Rug Collection brings the New Urban Organic look to fine, hand-knotted rugs. Like the other Benjamin Rug collections, this program is produced in Jaipur, India and uses hand-spun, hard-twist highland Afghani wool, but many of the design motifs are also rendered in pure hand-spun silk. The marriage of these two materials provides for a unique surface texture, as well as subtle tonal changes in color. Design influences run the gamut from Asian themes and abstract florals to optics. A true program, the Stephanie Cohen Collection is produced in a full range of stocked sizes and can also be ordered in custom sizes for a modest up-charge.
